Tis' the season {for bridal showers}

When my good friend Robin asked me to design her wedding invitations, I was honored. It is always fun when you can bring someones idea to life. So you can believe when her maid of honor asked me to design her bridal shower invitations I was even more thrilled! Robins colors are very unique, grass green, eggplant and rust orange. So for the bridal shower, they are incorporating all the colors into the theme of Italy (where they are honeymooning). There will also be LOTS of flowers. So with that in mind here is the invitation I came up with and should tie into the shower perfectly!

Shower Weekend

This weekend is my very good friend Michelle's bridal shower. I feel like just yesterday we were all in College, acting silly with no cares in the world. Now that we are all "grown ups" (I air quote this because we don't like to think we are quite yet!) we have all been taking the next step in our lives. Weddings, buying houses, and landing real jobs. While I digress on the subject of growing up, I should get to the point of this post. I was lucky enough to design the bridal shower invitation for Michelle. The location of their wedding is Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, CT. I thought that a great design would be based around the vineyard. You can see below what I came up with! Congrats Michelle!

Invitation Inspiration

When I look for inspiration, I look for a couple different things. Color, shapes, and detail, to name a few. I look for anything that could possibly be turned around and made into something design worthy. When designing an invitation, I love to look for inspiration on wedding blogs. Style Me Pretty, True Event and Life in the Superburbs are just a few that I look up to in looking for inspiration. They truly have the best ideas and real life weddings to get inspiration from. This story board of lovely invitations really gets my ideas flowing for new ideas!

Wedding Wednesday

Even though I have already planned and experienced "the BIG day" I still can't help but look at wedding blogs. One of my top wedding blogs that I run to almost everyday is Style Me Pretty. I always oooo and awww over all their story boards and all of the great details that go into every one of the weddings! They have this great new build a board where you can now build your very own story board! I am in desperate need of summer and this is just what I needed to day dream. While summer seems so far away, enjoy this summery wedding board.

I am trying to get back into the blogging world after a few weeks of being off for wedding extravaganza (to be a later post when I get my pictures!) I currently work for a business magazine in Vermont and we have just started a new event called Rising Stars. It is an event to nominate a person who is on their way to being a great success in the Vermont area, 39 and younger. Today I opened my gmail account and got a very exciting email. I had submitted a design on crowdSPRING, which is a website where small businesses can upload a project for designers to compete against. The company then picks the design that best suits what they are looking for. A company named Invitation Consultants posted a project where they wanted a new wedding invitation to sell on their website. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to start the process of becoming a stationary designer! I uploaded my design and crossed my fingers, hoping they would pick my design. I guess crossing my fingers worked! This is the design that they chose and I couldn't be any happier!

I have decided I hate moving! There is nothing worse than not knowing which box you packed something in. Mr. M and I have decided to move just down the road to a place a little cheaper, so we can eventually buy a house. Maybe not my dream house above, but some place where we can start our adventure as a MARRIED couple! Does anyone have $500,000 I can borrow to buy my dream house? :)

If I could walk in a 4 inch heal and wouldn't be taller than Mr.M, I may have considered these Nina heals as my wedding shoes. Wedding Project

It is starting to come down to the wire and I still have so many craft projects to do for the wedding. The next project on my agenda is going to be the seating chart. This seams to be the most dreadful project of all. The biggest problem...Who is going to sit with who!? This is where my Mom comes in handy! Here is a picture of what I hope the seating chart is going to come out like. I found this picture on the knot and thought that it would be a neat idea. I am trying to stay away from some of the traditional elements and trying something new for a few things. I definitely cannot wait until I am a Mrs.

Sinfully Elegant

When I was asked by LoveVermont to design, who I know as Superburbs, bachelorette invitation I didn't even have to think twice. These two ladies have the best taste and style as most of you know through both of their blogs.

When Kate, LoveVermont, told me that the theme was the Seven Deadly Sins, I knew I was in for a challenge. To give this theme a classy and vintage feel would be a task, but I ended up loving every minute of designing this beautiful invitation. With the colors being Tiffany blue and yellow and being that the location was Nantucket, a few ideas came into my head. Here is what we came up with and I think it gives a great representation of how much fun these girls are going to have!

Sorry blog world for I have been slacking. What better day than Tuesday to pick it back up. 51 Days

51 days seams like a long ways away, but when you put it into weeks that makes it 7. June 12 with be here before we all know it, especially for me and I think I am finally mentally ready. Ask me when it's 2 weeks away and I probably won't give you the same answer. I am very excited to see how all of my planning and designs will look at The amazing Essex Resort and Spa, in Essex Vermont.

Life Changes

I am not one to like extreme change, but lately I feel like this might be necessary to do quite soon. Lately I feel like I have been stuck in a rut with the same routine day in and day out. What kind of change could I make that would make my days more enjoyable? This will be a work in progress while I make a list of things that would make my life more fun and spontaneous! If anyone has any ideas on how to make a boring routine every day into a fun one, please let me know! Maybe I just have the Monday blues...

Inspiration for a Friday

April showers bring May flowers, that is what I have to keep telling myself when it's supposed to rain for the next 3 days. I don't have that many design's in progress, so I figured I would share some inspiration from my wedding planning. Every girl dreams as a little kid of her fairytale wedding. I was so fortunate that there was a website named The Knot. It has everything you could ever want to look at. All the pictures are categorized into every step of your wedding day, plus color schemes. You can also post a free wedding website and manage your guest list and budget your wedding. Thank you The Knot!! You made my planning very easy! The pictures are what inspired me for some of the details in my wedding.

Jamaican Getaway

As the weeks grow near for what will be claimed the best day of my life, I can't help but to think of the week after. Mr. M and I will be visiting Sandals Dunn's River in Jamaica. I was skeptical at first of Jamaica, as I think most are, but my wonderful travel agent Kelley reassured me that it was amazing! I am quite excited for the all inclusive food and drinks and of course the wonderful company that I will be with! Happy Thursday!

A friend of mine told me about this amazing invitation designer down in Brandon, VT, LassodMoon Designs. They are extremely tasteful, elegant and all around pleasing to the eye. Right now all I can think of is summer, with walks down on the Burlington waterfront, spending time with my family at our camp on Caspian Lake and bright colorful flowers (which remind me of wedding season and my own!!) I think I wear mine almost everyday. They go with everything and are just easy to slip on and walk out the door. Here is a website that is in progress for a low income housing company in VT. They are trying to get the word out there that low income housing doesn't have to be portrayed as run down housing or housing that is in a bad community. It is affordable housing for families living in VT communities. Get the word out!!

Tuesday has become one of my most favorite days in the week (other than Fridays of course) all because someone came up with the brilliant idea of Tuesday Shoesday. My VT friends and I have taken a little spin on this wonderful day and have named it VTuesday Shoesday.
Who doesn't like a nice pair of rain boots. I myself have a lovely pair of polka dotted ones, which are quite fashionable if I don't say so myself! This pair is a little out of my own personal budget for a rain boot, but can be found at The Shoe Shop right in Burlington, VT. If we have to survive rain season, what better than a great pair of rain boots to cheer you up!

Wedding Invite

I knew that I was always going to design my own wedding invites, but wasn't sure what I wanted them to look like. I went onto some websites just to get some ideas. I knew I wanted something simple and elegant for a spring wedding. My colors are apple green and navy blue, so that needed to be incorporated somehow. This is what I ended up with and am very pleased with the end result. The paper was a 100 lb linen finish by Neenah and I used navy blue envelopes to give a little more character.

A dream in the making

As a little girl who doesn't dream of their own wedding? I am lucky enough right now to be planning my own wedding for June 12th of this year. I have been having a blast looking for new designs that may have not been done before. I want people to be wowed by what they see when they walk into the reception. A lot of my ideas have come from theknot.com.
Since I have been having so much fun, I came up with an idea of creating an event planning business in Vermont with a coworker of mine Sara Bell (check out her blog : http://saraestey.tumbler.com/) Hopefully someday we will be able to make this dream into a reality! This is just a start to our website. Its just an image now, but maybe soon it will be live for everyone to check out!
